What is neuropsychology?

Neuropsychology is the science of the brain organization of mental processes. About what happens in the head when we think, talk, feel, act. Neuropsychology helps to understand and analyze the causes of the individual characteristics of the child: he is gifted or does not harmoniously develop, he has a special character or some processes in the head are not the best way (for example, excitement prevails over inhibition, or few connections that provide thinking).

At what age is the TURUS PLUS program effective
(neuropsychological correction)?

The program is optimal at the age of 4-5 to 9 years, but also from 9 to very old age gives good results. Each age has its own characteristics. For a preschooler and a younger student, this is optimal, because the brain is still actively developing and at this age the child is still under the control of the parents. Later, as we know, it is already more difficult to learn something, since brain development slows down considerably and loses its flexibility. In addition, we all know that it is more difficult to work with a teenager, especially if he has difficulties of an emotional-volitional nature, as well as behavior and thinking.

In middle age, it is easier to do when there is personal motivation and you need to increase the ability of the mind to achieve specific goals, for example, to be more attentive at work, to follow a large number of cases at the same time, to get less tired and to gain strength faster, to become more flexible and resilient, etc. .

Why the whole complex can only be done from 5 years?

The brain of the child at the time of birth has available all the necessary anatomical structures. However, functional maturation occurs in the process of growth and development. The brain organization of mental processes (speech, emotions, thinking, behavior, etc.) is formed and proceeds in stages, engaging different parts of the brain. Not only the cerebral cortex and subcortical structures known to everyone, but also neurophysiological, neurochemical processes, as well as social factors — the external environment, the family, and the demands we place on the child — take part in healthy mental activity. As a rule, by the age of 5, children already reach a level at which the TURUS PLUS can begin.

What is Neuropsychological diagnosis and correction (TURUS PLUS) necessary for?

Neuropsychological examination allows you to identify the current level of development of the child, to explore higher mental functions, i.e. perception, attention, memory, thinking, phonemic hearing, spatial representations, the basics of self-regulation, as well as the development of the sensorimotor level (level of actions and sensations). Such a survey allows parents not only to understand the features of the child’s development, but also to see their current and potential opportunities. Neuropsychological examination is useful for any child from 5 years old, especially for children with difficulties:

in the assimilation of the school curriculum (writing, reading), in behavior (spontaneity, impossibility of self-control and prediction of situations, hyperactivity or sluggishness), lack of spatial representations (can not remember where left, where is the right, etc.), abundance of combined movements (synkinesis): while holding a pencil / pen, there is an unconscious overstrain of a multitude of “extra” muscles (bites lips, wiggles tongue, shoulders raised, awkward posture of arms, legs, etc.).

How is the diagnosis?

The examination itself is a specialist conversation with a child in the presence of parents. Also, the child performs some tasks related to thinking, memory, attention, body control. Also, a psychologist collects anamnesis of fetal and early child development. The entire examination procedure lasts about 2 hours. If a child has a deficit of neurodynamics (insufficient formation of neural connections in the brain), he is offered to undergo a course of neuropsychological correction – the TURUS PLUS program.

Is there a scientific rationale for this program?

The program of neuropsychological correction and habilitation (harmonization) is based on the best developments of neuropsychologists (according to A.R. Luria – L.S. Tsvetkova). It was created in accordance with the universal laws of the neuropsychology of childhood and, in particular, the principle of replacing ontogenesis (the principle of the natural development of a child from the prenatal period to the present) (Semenovich AV, Arkhipov BA). It includes: traditional and original neuropsychological, speech therapy and other methods, body-oriented, psychotherapeutic (art-therapeutic, gaming, etc.) technologies. The program is designed for children of senior preschool age, slightly lagging behind in psychomotor and speech development, and children of younger school age who are not progressing in the main school subjects.

How it works?

Exercises of the TURUS PLUS program affect the sensorimotor level (level of sensations and actions), taking into account the general patterns of ontogenesis (natural development), activating the development of all higher mental functions. By performing certain exercises with different parts of the body, we act on different parts of the brain, thereby stimulating them to develop.

How many stages in the program and what is its duration?

The program has 4 stages: preparatory – we collect information (diagnosis, history, interviews) about the current state of affairs, the current level of the child’s development and the parent’s readiness to start the program. It is very important to set specific goals and determine all the possibilities that help and hinder factors. Often at this stage, the parent receives psychological assistance in organizing constructive communication with the child, which is necessary for further work.

After the preparatory stage, the TURUS PLUS program begins. The first stage of the program involves working with the energy block and lasts individually depending on the need (2–5 months). It is necessary to improve the performance and energy status to perform more complex exercises in the following steps. At the second stage, we act on the operational level, i.e. we learn to perform several exercises at the same time, we increase inter-hemispheric connections, we increase the amount of memory and attention, we learn to analyze and synthesize algorithms. At the third stage, the participant learns how to work with algorithms, build programs, monitor their correctness, and also increases stress resistance. The duration of each stage is individual, but on average, about 3 months each, which means that after 9 months you will get a good and stable result that will delight you all your life!

How can the TURUS-PLUS program help a child learn better?

Due to the passage of the TURUS PLUS program, the child’s attention will improve, the memory will increase, he will become more resilient and efficient, prudent and result-oriented, and this together will give the child additional development possibilities.
